In less than 2 weeks, on February 12th, A Woman’s Place (AWP) will host its 16th annual Chocolate Lovers’ Fantasy at Tyler Hall on the campus of Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Pennsylvania at 6 p.m.
AWP, Bucks County’s only domestic violence organization, depends on the generosity of donors and event attendees to raise the much needed funds in order to continue to provide the programs and services that are so vital in the community. Last year, Chocolate Lovers’ Fantasy raised nearly $86,000.
At a time where organizations and individuals alike are facing economic challenges nationwide, many generous corporations and individuals have shown their support for AWP by sponsoring the sweetest event in the area.
This year’s list of sponsors includes Christiane Casella & Stephen Danksy, The Glenmede Trust Company, St. Mary Medical Center, First Savings Bank of Perkasie, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Susan E. Dardes & David L. Franke, First Federal of Bucks County, G4S Compliance & Investigations, Leadership Team of A Woman’s Place, Leydon Landscaping, Waste Management, Doylestown United Methodist Church, Board of Directors of A Woman’s Place, Rodney Bate & Karen Frei, Begley Carlin & Mandio, Broadspire, Magellan Health Services, Pillinger Miller Tarallo, Frank Smith, and Specialty Risk Services.
Chocolate Lovers’ Fantasy has something for everyone. There will be hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, live entertainment. The silent auction will include spa baskets, baskets for children of all ages, cooking baskets, baking baskets, and much more. This year hot items on the live auction list include Phillies tickets, Eagles tickets, a weekend stay in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Taste of Seattle Weekend– the list goes on and on. And don’t forget the main attraction of the event, which is a 55-foot spread of chocolate desserts donated from businesses and individuals throughout the county that ends in a dark chocolate fountain.
Anyone not able to attend can still participate by purchasing tickets for the “Destination: Your Choice” Fantasy raffle. The winner receives the choice of an 8 day/7 night stay in a Marriot Club in either Tahoe, Las Vegas, or Orlando. The package also includes roundtrip airfare for two on Southwest Airlines. Raffle tickets are $20 each. Winner must be at least 18 years of age and need not be present at the drawing to win. Some restrictions apply.
Between the various sponsors, donors, volunteers, and nearly 300 anticipated attendees, this event is a true example of the strong support AWP receives from the surrounding community. Chocolate Lovers’ Fantasy is a perfect pre-Valentine’s Day date, a fun-filled Girls’ Night Out, or just a great reason to join others from the area to support an organization that provides essential support and services to victims of domestic violence, their children, and the community.
Sponsorships, event tickets, and raffle tickets are still available. Visit www.awomansplace.org or call 215-343-9241 ext. 108 for information.
