No one truly knows how strong they are until summoned to learn.
If you are living your life, chances are you’ve already put your inner strength to the test. Every day we are faced with some form of adversity from losing a job, getting divorced, or feeling alone to the severity of disease, poverty or sheer survival.
Fortitude can be found in life’s greatest moments, like becoming a parent. The love of a child is instinctive. It possesses us without consent. Never have I experienced both complete vulnerability and absolute strength than in that moment when I held my child for the first time. The mere sight of her weakened my heart to its core, but the desire to become everything she needed compelled my inner heroism to arise. In that moment I knew I was strong enough to be my daughter’s angel, teacher, and protector. By accepting my weakness for her, I discovered the power in me.
Now, I am able to push beyond the limits I once set for myself. I am confident in my decisions. I have the courage to acknowledge my mistakes and learn from them. I don’t make excuses for who I am, and I accept the woman in front of me. I believe in myself and my abilities. When life brings me down I know I will always find my way back up… I’m a riser!
