Empowering BBQ

When the text message notification sounded on my cell phone on Tuesday morning at 4:48 a.m., I actually felt upset. “Just wait,” I thought. “See what it says.” Ugh – two hour delay for the kids.

Driving to the office this morning, I found myself checking the rear-view mirror for police cars. I finally realized I was anxious because my swerving to avoid the canyon-like potholes in the road probably made me look like a drunk driver.

While there wasn’t any place in particular that I needed or wanted to be during these past several weeks, I’ve felt trapped by the elements. Really, I should feel grateful. There are any number of places where the weather pattern of the day is drought (kinda glad I left Los Angeles) and I’m blessed with an abundance of precipitation. Where’s my gratitude?

All this cabin fever calls for one thing. BBQ.

This spring A Woman’s Place is launching a new initiative – The Empowerment Project. The Empowerment Project creates the conditions that individuals and communities need to flourish. Right now, what I need to flourish is to step out of winter and into an evening of delicious food, great music, fabulous people, and inspiring celebration of empowerment!

Join us, please, on March 3, 6 – 8 p.m. at Covenant Church. Enjoy the BBQ. Meet great people. Learn more about The Empowerment Project. Join A Woman’s Place in building a community in which each individual is safe and can flourish. (The courtesy of your RSVP is appreciated.)

It’s one thing to live your life safely. It’s another thing entirely to live a life that is empowered and truly flourishing! Live empowered! (And eat BBQ!)
